Eine Ermunterung vom Festival Hungry Eyes in Gießen eine bis zu 20 minütige Versuchsanordnung einzureichen, resultierte in dieser Auswahl aus meinen ca. 15 neuen sehr kurzen Filmen von 2019/2020 - drum nenne ich sie mit Dank für die Inspiration:

Alle diese Filme liefen einzeln auf verschiedenen Filmfestivals.
Zeitlich ergibt sich für Hungry Eyes die Möglichkeit für fünf Video Collagen, die in diesem Jahr zwar nicht chronologisch aber in der letztendlich belassenen Zeitfolge entstanden sind, den Zeitgeist mit Stimmungswechsel einschliessend.

Gemeinsam ist der Auswahl eine unterschiedliche Rolle von Wasser: Anfangs wird es überbrückt, dann von einer Webcam im Nebel beobachtet, ein Musiker kann es wegen Lockdown-Konzertabsagen nicht mehr mit der Fähre überqueren, ein Kunstpfeifer verabschiedet sich im vergangenen Jahrhundert vor seiner wochenlangen Schiffsreise über die Meere nach Australien, und zum Schluß legt sich eine nie zuvor gesehene Wolkendecken-Wanderung über einen Ort - Balsam.
Der Einsatz origineller Musiken von insbesondere Posaunist und Komponist Paul Hubweber bildet einen weiteren verbindenden Aspekt. Tubaspieler Pinguin Moschner und ein in Vergessenheit geratener Kunstpfeifer sind weitere ganz besondere virtuose Musiker-Originale und passen auch deshalb gut in diese Kompilation.
Die Verwendung von gesuchten/gefundenen Bildmaterialien mit creative commons licence, also mit ausdrücklicher Nutzungserlaubnis, ermöglichen es mir, wieder Videos frei entstehen zu lassen.

We see a webcam surveillance video of a harbour entrance on a foggy day in Cuxhaven, Germany. A sound of a fog horn extends into film music, a contemporary composition for his trombone by Paul Hubweber.

Ships come in slowly and the first stanza of the poem "Fog Horns" by poet David Mason from Colorado appears slowly and in writing first.These three elements - webcam image, poem, trombone music - appear in the video as if they were always meant for each other...

16.4.20 - Poet David Mason has just retired fom work as professor at the English Department Colorado College in Colorado Springs USA:

I asked him what I could say during the Cadence Festival Zoom Hang event on 4/18?

"You can say I'm proud to have my poem featured in your film. I wrote the thing some years ago, while looking at a painting called Fog Horns by Arthur Dove.

Somehow I fell into five-syllable lines with some rhymes.
I enjoyed the way the form encouraged me to break out of simple logic into mood.

I'm in Tasmania, now - my home for rest of life..."

The painting also visualizes the first three fog horn sounds of the video. Paul Hubweber heard it and while seeing the still silent rest of the film, he chose from his archive his composition Trombone Parts from Ab und Auf for the video.

A dying language left untranslated, constraints leaving language limited, and limited language leaving emotional threads through found and filmed footage—this screening leaves room for inference and poetic impressions.

Robert Sukrow is on many soundtracks the poet's voice actor and he wrote:

Rolf Persch. That is not me. He is not me. Already a common ground. A few years ago, Paul Hubweber introduced me to the witty and sometimes absurd texts of the author Rolf Persch († March 5, 2015). His witticisms, but also some punch lines that only become apparent after a second listen (I myself am not excluded), convinced me to follow Paul's idea of becoming a kind of Persch recitation machine together with him. So we called ourselves the Perschings, freely, yet respectfully, tampered with Persch's works, gave them melody, a new dress, voices, noise. Trombonist and improviser Paul made me sing, disguise voices and scold, made me be a voice for someone who is no longer there and yet is. The project was an enrichment for me. No one is Rolf Persch but Rolf Persch. Video artist Ebba Jahn has created image montages/videos with our sound files that will be shown here with kickoff on Sunday, September 5 and then (for now) every Sunday at 12 noon. But, enough of my words. Sunday is Rolf then, the old plum.

Rolf Persch. Das bin nicht ich. Er ist nicht ich. Schon eine Gemeinsamkeit. Vor wenigen Jahren lernte ich durch Paul Hubweber die geistreichen, teils aber auch absurden Texte des Autoren Rolf Persch († 5. März 2015) kennen. Sein Wortwitz, aber auch manche Pointe, die sich erst nach dem zweiten Hören erschließt (Ich selbst schließe mich da nicht aus), überzeugten mich, Pauls Idee nachzukommen, zusammen mit ihm eine Art Rezitatonsmaschine Perschs zu werden. So nannten wir uns die Perschings, vergriffen uns frei, dennoch respektvoll an den Werken Perschs, gaben ihm Melodie, ein neues Kleid, Stimmen, Geräusch. Posaunist und Improvokateur Paul brachte mich zum Singen, Stimmen verstellen und Schimpfen, brachte mich dazu, eine Stimme zu sein für jemand, der nicht mehr da ist und es doch ist. Das Projekt war eine Bereicherung für mich. Keiner ist Rolf Persch außer Rolf Persch. Die Videokünstlerin Ebba Jahn hat mit unseren Soundfiles Bildmontagen/Videos geschaffen, die mit Startschuss am Sonntag, 5. September und dann (vorerst) jeden Sonntag um 12 Uhr hier gezeigt werden. Aber, genug meiner Worte. Sonntag ist Rolf dann, die alte Zwetschge.
