2. The Poetry Video:

Fungi Pair by Ebba Jahn | HD 3:18 min. |  2020, Germany

The first video of both.
Two rare fungi bloom into unusual beauty. Stanzas of the poem A Mushroom is the Elf of Plants by Emily Dickinson appear in text form, accompanied by a contemporary composition for multiple instruments by Paul Hubweber entitled Zellen - cells.

The music was recorded 1995 at Stadtgarten Köln/Cologne by Bull's Eye Ensemble, composed by Paul Hubweber who also played trombone on the piece.

The mushroom is called
phallus luteus and grows probably only in Korea.

The film - I found one minute of fast time-lapse video material with a license to use by Apro Choi from Korea. This found footage I slowed down to the film length.

Emily Dickinson
lived from 1830-1860. Please see this wikipedia link to learn more about this important American poet.

Welcoming fall - inspired by an old German song - translated by Ebba:
                                                         Colorful are forests already
                                                         Yellow the stubble-fields
                                                         And the autumn begins
                                                         Red leafes are falling
                                                         Gray fogs are rising
                                                         Cooler blows the wind.

                                                          Graue Nebel wallen
                                                          Kühler weht der Wind

Saying goodbye to the summer... Recently I painted this en plein air in Bornholm and it fits the weekly daily paintworks contest "grass".
The far view could be seen from a slightly higher garden point, and because another tree was cut down... that's where I sat down to enjoy / paint the scenery.
While painting I looked closely at the shadow of the right tree on the grass, but painted it not quite accordingly, more dark green was no option for my eye... that's why I can now sometimes imagine to change the format to a wide panorama view.

Fascinated by yellow lichen or alga growing on rocks at the Bornholm coast,
I expressed it freely in this small painting.

Rocks in Bornholm
15 cm x 18 cm with slightly larger white edge
than depicted (for those who do prefer a shabby look).

Raps in Bornholm I Acrylics on Canvas 14" x 19" / 36 x 48 cm

Raps in Bornholm
Acrylics on canvas
14" x 19" / 36 cm x 48 cm
Ebba Jahn, 2013
The rape (Raps) fields were at their yellow peak in Bornholm and I had never seen anything like that before: The sun is shining upon it until the yellow starts screaming and a dark sky is happening at the same time - painting it plein air was a no brainer. Of course that brain got a little dizzy while sitting right infront of the field for some hours - now we know, that the odorous substance is poisonous, but thanks to the wind's direction it remained bearable. The painting depicts an abstract of this experience, as always are the colors of the original so much brighter...

Now up for auction at dailypaintworks
